Continuing with the winter garden theme.

This is probably also my last set of Kallitypes. I switched over to save money relative to the Palladium/Platinum prints, but there are a couple of things that are driving the switch back.

The first is that while the platinum costs of kallitypes are roughly 1/6th those of the palladium/platinum prints, because of the much greater number of chemicals involved in the kallitype process, the actual overall cost per print is closer to 1/2 that of the palladium/platinum prints. Which is just not that big of a difference for the volume I print.

The second reason is related - there are so many more, and longer, steps in the kallitype process, that it takes about twice as long to develop, tone, and clear a kallitype print. And it’s just a lot of steps, and a lot of hassle, and it means I can’t print as many prints in a given session, and it makes me not want to print. Which is kiiiind of a fundamental problem.

So. Easily rectified. Back to palladium/platinum.
